In January of 1879, some 20,000 Zulu warriors descended the heights of the Nqutu Plateau and fell on a unsuspecting force of approximately 1600 British soldiers, Natal Natives and colonials.

The resulting battle would not only go on to sway public opinion but would change the military tactics of the period.

But the day was not yet over as a Zulu force of 4,000 warriors would go on to cement the Natal outpost of Rorkes Drift into the annals of history.

    Rorkes Drift Day Tour Itinerary

    • We’ll pick you up from your accommodation in the Durban area at 6:00am.
    • It’s a 4 hour drive to the battlefields of Isandlwana and Rorkes Drift from Durban, there will be two comfort stops along the way.
    • At 10:30am you’ll begin the tour of Isandlwana.
    • Around 12:00pm you’ll break for lunch at Rorkes Drift.
    • At 1:00pm the tour of Rorkes Drift begins.
    • You will begin the journey back to Durban at 3:00pm, arriving at approx. 7:00pm.
